Jeddah Municipality: 109,000 health certificates issued and food inspections conducted in 2025
The Jeddah Municipality announced record-breaking figures in health inspection and food safety during 2025, reporting the issuance and renewal of 109,637 health certificates, in addition to the testing of 82,092 food samples through its specialized laboratories. These intensive efforts are part of the municipality's strategy to promote public health and ensure the safety of food offered to residents and visitors in the city.
Enhancing compliance through the Ijadah program
The municipality explained that these achievements were made possible through the ongoing inspection tours conducted by the "Ijadah" program, which aims to increase the compliance rate of commercial and health establishments with municipal regulations. These tours covered 11 sub-municipalities, reflecting the comprehensive regulatory coverage of all Jeddah neighborhoods. This program directly contributes to improving the urban landscape and raising the quality of services provided in restaurants, cafes, and food outlets, which positively impacts customer satisfaction.
Digital transformation and streamlining procedures through the Baladi platform
In a related context, the Jeddah Municipality emphasized the role of digital transformation in accelerating work processes and streamlining procedures for investors and employees in the sector. Businesses can easily access municipal services through the "Baladi" digital platform. The platform allows for the immediate issuance and printing of health certificates without the need to visit the municipality headquarters, thanks to the direct electronic link between medical examination results and the Ministry of Health's platform. This saves time and effort and enhances the efficiency of the business environment.
The importance of food safety and Jeddah's status as a tourist destination
These regulatory efforts are doubly important given Jeddah's status as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a major tourist destination on the Red Sea coast. With the increasing number of visitors and tourists, ensuring food safety and security becomes a cornerstone of the tourism and health system. The testing of more than 82,000 food samples is a strong indicator of the rigorous standards applied to guarantee food is free from contaminants, thus enhancing confidence in the Kingdom's hospitality and food sector.
Continued development and field monitoring
The Secretariat concluded by emphasizing its commitment to continuing its oversight efforts through intensive field visits to monitor compliance with all health requirements in food establishments. These ongoing steps aim to create a safe and sustainable health environment, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to improve the quality of life and enhance services provided to citizens and residents alike.
