Mohammed bin Salman and Erdogan discuss strengthening regional security and stability

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, discussed with His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey joint efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region. These talks come at a critical and sensitive time, as the Middle East and the world face rapidly escalating geopolitical challenges that necessitate high-level coordination among influential regional powers.

These talks are of particular importance given the historical context of Saudi-Turkish relations, which have witnessed a qualitative leap and an upward trajectory toward strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years. The two countries have turned the page on past differences and embarked on a new phase of fruitful cooperation, culminating in high-level reciprocal visits, most notably the Saudi Crown Prince's visit to Ankara and the Turkish President's visit to Jeddah. This has laid a solid foundation for political and economic understanding and reactivated the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council to play its role in deepening cooperation.

On the issue of pressing regional matters, both sides consistently emphasize the need to unify positions on critical issues threatening the region's security, foremost among them the Palestinian question and the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip. Riyadh and Ankara play pivotal roles in Islamic and international diplomatic efforts to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilians, as well as exploring ways to find sustainable political solutions to the crises in Syria, Yemen, and Sudan, ensuring the territorial integrity of these countries, the safety of their people, and preventing the escalation of conflict.

From a strategic and economic perspective, the discussions between the two leaders extend beyond the political sphere to encompass enhanced cooperation in defense, energy, investment, and bilateral trade. Recent agreements between the two countries, including significant collaboration in defense industries and technology transfer, serve as tangible evidence of the depth and strength of their relationship. This growing cooperation aligns with the goals of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to diversify international partnerships and build a prosperous economy, and with Turkey's aspirations to strengthen its economic presence in Gulf markets and increase trade volume.

In conclusion, the ongoing coordination and consultation between the Saudi and Turkish leaderships represent a fundamental pillar for maintaining balance in the Middle East. The rapprochement between these two major powers in the Islamic world and the G20 not only serves the interests of both brotherly nations but also casts a positive light on international peace and security, underscoring the role of Saudi Arabia and Turkey as key safeguards in the face of evolving regional and international turmoil.
