Minister of Hajj: Hajj plan for next season to be prepared before the current one ends

Introduction: A proactive strategy to serve the pilgrims

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to developing the services provided to pilgrims, His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, announced an unprecedented proactive strategy. This strategy involves initiating the Hajj plan for the upcoming season before the current season concludes. This initiative is part of an integrated framework involving various government agencies, Hajj affairs offices, and Hajj companies, all aimed at enhancing services and bolstering operational readiness to facilitate the performance of the rituals.

The historical context of the Kingdom's efforts in managing the Hajj

Throughout history, the care of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah has been a top priority for the Saudi leadership since the Kingdom's unification. Hajj management has evolved from traditional organizational efforts to a comprehensive institutional system that relies on cutting-edge technology and early strategic planning. Historically, preparations began months after the season ended, but with the increasing number of pilgrims and the development of infrastructure, the Kingdom recognized the need to shift towards proactive planning to ensure the highest levels of security, safety, and comfort for the millions of Muslims who flock from all corners of the globe.

Details of the early Hajj plan and international coordination

The Minister of Hajj and Umrah made these remarks during a dialogue session at the third edition of the Health and Security in Hajj Forum, organized by the General Directorate of Medical Services at the Ministry of Interior. Dr. Al-Rabeeah explained that actual preparations for the upcoming Hajj season will begin on the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah. This will be achieved through intensive meetings with the heads of Hajj affairs offices and companies operating in this sector to develop a comprehensive roadmap. He noted that the Ministry began last season to develop a detailed plan with specific timelines, in coordination with 78 countries, ensuring the smooth operation of the holy sites, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, and transportation and catering services.

Local, regional and international impact of developing the Hajj system

This early planning has far-reaching implications. Locally, it stimulates the economy and provides seasonal and permanent employment opportunities, as well as optimizing the use of the vast infrastructure in Mecca and Medina. Regionally and internationally, this approach reassures Islamic countries and Hajj affairs offices worldwide, giving them ample time to arrange travel and accommodation for their pilgrims. It also minimizes the logistical and health challenges that millions of pilgrims might face, reflecting positively on Saudi Arabia's efficiency in managing crises and crowds.

Integrating efforts to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030

The Minister explained that the Hajj Projects Management Office, part of the Guests of God Service Program and operating under the umbrella of the Supreme Hajj Committee and the direct supervision of the Makkah Region Governorate, receives operational plans from more than 60 government entities. These efforts encompass over 600 plans related to Hajj operations, which are then aligned to ensure coordination and prevent any overlap. Al-Rabeeah emphasized that this qualitative leap comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership, and all entities are working as a unified team to enable pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind. This development aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Guests of God Service Program, further solidifying the Kingdom's position and global leadership in serving Islam and Muslims.
