The Minister of Interior inspects the electrical loads in the holy sites

Since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has devoted immense attention and care to serving the pilgrims, harnessing all its human, material, and technological resources to ensure their comfort. Infrastructure, particularly the energy and electricity sector, is a cornerstone of the service system in Mecca and the Holy Sites, especially given the climatic challenges and the millions of pilgrims who flock there annually to perform the rituals. Within the framework of Vision 2030, these services have witnessed unprecedented development through the integration of modern technologies and artificial intelligence for highly efficient crowd and resource management.

The Minister of Interior inspects the readiness of the holy sites

In this ongoing context of development and monitoring, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, visited the Operations and Control Center in Mina, belonging to the Saudi Electricity Company, on Thursday. This field visit comes as part of His Highness's continuous efforts to assess the readiness of all service and security sectors participating in the 1447 AH Hajj season, and to ensure the integration of roles in providing the best possible services to the pilgrims of the Sacred House of God.

Employing artificial intelligence in managing electrical loads

During the inspection tour, His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior listened to a detailed and comprehensive explanation presented by the Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs, Engineer Nasser bin Hadi Al-Qahtani. The explanation covered the electrical load management and the mechanisms for precise monitoring and operation of the networks in the Holy Sites. The presentation highlighted the significant reliance on proactive analysis methods for operational indicators, which are primarily based on artificial intelligence technologies. This advanced technological approach directly contributes to enhancing the reliability of electricity service, reducing response times to any emergency, and raising the level of operational readiness around the clock during the Hajj season.

Real-time monitoring of electrical networks

His Highness, the Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, was also briefed on the advanced technological systems used to monitor loads and control electrical networks in real time. This level of instantaneous control plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and rapid response to operational issues. The impact of this electrical stability extends beyond simply providing lighting and air conditioning; it is the primary support for the success of security, service, and health plans, ensuring the stability of all services provided to pilgrims and providing them with a safe and comfortable environment to perform their rituals with complete peace of mind.

Integrating security and safety with energy stability

Because security and safety are paramount in managing massive crowds, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud received a comprehensive briefing on the Security and Safety Operations Center. This vital center is responsible for receiving and meticulously following up on emergency security reports. The operational and technical efforts undertaken to ensure rapid response and immediate, professional handling of all emergencies were reviewed, thereby enhancing the efficiency of services provided and reassuring pilgrims and their families throughout the Islamic world.

The regional and international impact of the Kingdom's efforts

These early and advanced preparations have a positive impact that extends beyond the local level to the regional and international levels. Internationally, these measures send a reassuring message to millions of Muslims worldwide that the Kingdom is harnessing the latest technologies to serve pilgrims. They also solidify Saudi Arabia's position as a leading global model in managing large crowds and developing smart temporary cities that operate with complete efficiency under high pressure and for a specific timeframe.

At the conclusion of the visit, which was attended by a number of senior officials, including Assistant Minister of Interior, Mr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Falih, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Battal, and Director General of the Minister’s Office for Studies and Research, Major General Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Arwan, it was confirmed to everyone that the work system in the holy sites is proceeding according to well-studied strategic plans that place the comfort and safety of the pilgrim above all considerations.
