Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has announced his departure from English club Liverpool at the end of the current 2025-2026 season.
Salah's contract with Liverpool ends at the end of the 2026-2027 season, but the Egyptian star decided to leave before the end of his contract after facing criticism this season due to his declining performance.
A touching message to the fans
Salah said in a video posted on his social media accounts: “Hello everyone, unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”.
He added: “I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deep this club, this city, and these people are in my life. Liverpool is not just a football club; it’s a passion, a history, a spirit. I can’t explain that in words to anyone who isn’t part of this club.”.
Gratitude to his colleagues
He continued: “We have celebrated victory, won the most important trophies, and fought together through the toughest times of our lives. I would like to thank everyone who has been part of this club throughout my time here, especially my former and current teammates.”.
He added: “As for the fans, I cannot find enough words to express my gratitude. Your support during the best periods of my career, and your standing by me in the most difficult times, is something I will never forget, and it will remain engraved in my memory forever.”.
Difficult decision
He concluded by saying, "Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best times of my life. I will always be one of you.".
