Al-Lami: Founding Day is a source of pride in the past and a source of pride in the Saudi present

In patriotic statements reflecting the deep bond between the sports community and the wise leadership, Mohammed Talaat Al-Lami, an honorary member of Al-Ittihad Club and former general supervisor of the youth teams, affirmed that the Founding Day is a cherished national occasion and a pivotal moment to take pride in the journey of the Saudi state and its rich history spanning more than three centuries. Al-Lami pointed out that this day is not merely a fleeting celebration, but rather a commemoration of the stories of struggle and heroism written by the imams and kings to establish the foundations of unity, security, and stability in the Arabian Peninsula.

Historical roots and cultural depth

Al-Lami told Okaz newspaper that celebrating the founding day brings to mind the early days of the first Saudi state in 1139 AH (1727 CE) under Imam Muhammad bin Saud, with its capital in Diriyah. This date marked the beginning of a great entity built on the principles of justice and serving the Two Holy Mosques. He explained that recalling these glories strengthens the national identity of new generations and connects them to their deep-rooted heritage, emphasizing that the prosperity we enjoy today is the fruit of the labors of our forefathers who built and established this great nation.

From unification to an ambitious vision

Al-Lami said, “On this day, we remember the glorious achievements of those who built and established this great entity three centuries ago, culminating in the establishment of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by its unifier, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman, and his sons, the kings who succeeded him—may God have mercy on them—who followed his righteous path.” He continued, praising the prosperous era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, during which the Kingdom is witnessing an unprecedented developmental renaissance in all fields, including the sports sector, which enjoys generous support and significant attention within the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

International standing and security stability

Al-Lami concluded his remarks by noting that this cherished anniversary embodies the historical depth of this nation and highlights the Kingdom's esteemed position and its strategic, political, and economic weight at both the regional and international levels. He emphasized that the Kingdom's continued progress and development, coupled with its adherence to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace be upon him), is the secret behind the stability and prosperity experienced by every citizen and resident. He prayed that God would perpetuate the Kingdom's security, glory, and wise leadership.
