Mlijah Municipality's efforts: Planting 40,000 flowers and removing visual pollution

In its ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life and improve the urban landscape, the Municipality of Mleijah a number of significant achievements during the first quarter, reflecting a firm commitment to developing infrastructure and providing a healthy and attractive environment for residents and visitors. These efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically the Quality of Life Program and the Humanizing Cities Initiative adopted by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

The initiative to address visual pollution and improve the urban landscape is one of the most important national initiatives in the Kingdom, aiming to enhance the built environment and provide green spaces and public facilities that meet the needs of the community. In this context, local municipalities, such as the Mleijah Municipality, which falls under the Eastern Province Municipality, play a pivotal role in translating this vision into tangible reality. The impact of these projects extends beyond aesthetics, encompassing the promotion of public health, the reduction of environmental pollution, and the improvement of traffic safety, which positively impacts local and economic development in the region.

Malijah is adorned with 40,000 flowers and vital projects

The mayor of Mleijah, Manahi bin Saeedan, explained that the municipality has dedicated its efforts to eliminating all forms of visual pollution. The strategic plan includes planting 40,000 seasonal flowers and 434 trees in various public spaces. This initiative aims to improve the overall environmental climate and increase per capita green spaces, which will contribute to lowering temperatures and purifying the air.

In terms of infrastructure, the development drive resulted in the completion of vital projects, including painting 8,680 meters of sidewalks and installing 28 new streetlights on main and secondary roads to enhance nighttime traffic safety. The fieldwork also included the construction of two public restrooms to ensure the provision of essential services that directly and effectively meet the needs of residents and visitors.

Intensive campaigns to remove waste and monitor health

The municipality's efforts were not limited to beautification; they also included intensive public cleaning campaigns and addressing visual pollution. Official statistics revealed the removal of construction debris and rubble covering a vast area of ​​5,538 square meters, in addition to the removal of a damaged vehicle from the city streets that had been posing an environmental and visual burden. The efforts also extended to erasing 30 meters of graffiti, removing 8 meters of concrete barriers, and dismantling 4 meters of illegal advertising and commercial signs.

On the regulatory front, a cornerstone of public health protection, the municipality's Environmental Health Department intensified its efforts, conducting 432 thorough inspection tours of commercial and food establishments. These intensive inspections resulted in the detection of only 10 violations, demonstrating a high level of awareness and adherence to regulatory and health requirements among business owners.

In closing, the mayor affirmed that these gains and achievements are part of a comprehensive and sustainable development plan.
