In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to developing its infrastructure and providing a decent standard of living for its citizens and residents, the National Water Company announced the completion of a vital and strategic project aimed at delivering desalinated water and enhancing the distribution system in the Al-Zulfi and Thadiq governorates of the Riyadh region. The total cost of this major project exceeded 63 million riyals, representing a significant addition to the environmental and water services sector in the region.
Strengthening infrastructure in line with Vision 2030
This achievement comes within the framework of the Kingdom's tireless efforts to realize the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which prioritizes quality of life and the sustainability of water resources. Water projects are considered fundamental pillars of urban development, as the availability of reliable and sustainable water contributes to supporting the urban and population expansion witnessed in the Riyadh region. This project reflects the wise leadership's commitment to comprehensive development and the efficient delivery of essential services to all cities and governorates of the Kingdom, not just the major cities.
Project details in Al-Zulfi Governorate
The National Water Company explained that the project's geographical scope in Al-Zulfi Governorate was extensive and comprehensive, encompassing the implementation of modern water lines and networks that covered numerous vital neighborhoods. These included the neighborhoods of Qurtuba, Al-Rabwa, Al-Wissam, Hittin, Al-Rayyan, and Badr, in addition to covering plots 962 and 954. The work was not limited to extending underground networks but also included the implementation of technical and engineering connections to the elevated reservoir. This is a crucial technical step aimed at ensuring balanced water pressure and enhancing the reliability and sustainability of the water supply for residents around the clock.
Expansion of services in Thadiq Governorate
In parallel with the work in Zulfi, development efforts extended to Thadiq Governorate, where integrated water networks were implemented, including Plan No. (340) in Al-Yarmouk neighborhood and Plan No. (196) in Al-Aqiq neighborhood. According to data issued by the company, the total length of lines and networks implemented in the two governorates exceeded 181 kilometers. This figure indicates the scale of the work completed, which will directly serve more than 51,000 beneficiaries, ending their previous difficulties in obtaining water and enhancing their living conditions.
Developmental impact and beneficiary engagement
The company affirmed that this project aligns with its strategy to enhance operational efficiency and achieve comprehensive water security. It is expected to have a tangible positive impact on the economic and urban development of Zulfi and Thadiq, as water infrastructure is a key factor in attracting investment and residential development. In closing, the National Water Company urged all customers in the neighborhoods and developments covered by the new service to promptly request a water connection through the approved digital channels, either via the mobile application or the company's online portal, to benefit immediately from the service.
