National Water Company pumps 12 million cubic meters in Mecca during Ramadan

National Water Company announced the success of its operational and service plan for the holy month of Ramadan in Mecca, confirming a smooth and efficient water supply during the first half of the month. This achievement comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the comfort of pilgrims and provide them with all essential services efficiently.

Record numbers in the Holy City

Official company statistics revealed that more than 12 million cubic meters of water were pumped into the holy city of Mecca from the beginning of Ramadan until its middle. These operations were characterized by continuous pumping around the clock, specifically to the Grand Mosque and the surrounding central area, to ensure water availability in the areas most frequented by visitors and pilgrims.

Historical context and the importance of water security in Hajj and Umrah

These efforts are of paramount strategic importance given the historical and religious significance of Mecca. Since ancient times, providing water to pilgrims has been a great honor and a weighty responsibility. In the prosperous Saudi era, this concept has transformed into a sophisticated institutional system that relies on the latest technologies in water desalination, transport, and distribution. Securing these enormous quantities in an arid geographical region presents a significant engineering and logistical challenge, reflecting the scale of the government's massive investments in water infrastructure to ensure sustainable water security for the pilgrims.

Quality and conformity to international standards

National Water Company's efforts were not limited to quantities alone; it also placed great emphasis on quality and safety standards. The company explained that it conducted more than 16,000 rigorous laboratory tests to ensure the water's safety and compliance with international standards. Furthermore, more than 9.6 million cubic meters of water were treated in an environmentally sound manner, reflecting its commitment to preserving public health and the environment in one of the holiest places on earth.

Preparing for the last ten days and keeping pace with Vision 2030

These achievements align with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , which aims to facilitate hosting more Umrah and Hajj pilgrims and provide high-quality services that enrich their religious and cultural experience. With the arrival of the last ten days of Ramadan, the company announced it is operating at maximum capacity and doubling its efforts, with daily pumping scheduled to exceed 770,000 cubic meters to meet the anticipated surge in demand during this spiritual period.

Staff readiness and communication channels

The company confirmed that operations are proceeding according to schedule thanks to the readiness of its staff and field teams, equipped with the latest smart technologies and equipment for managing distribution and responding to reports. The company urged its customers and visitors to the Holy Mosque to contact them through its official channels or the unified number (8004411110) with any feedback, to ensure continued service at the highest levels.
