The National Center for Meteorology announces its readiness for the Ramadan season of 1447 AH

The National Center for Meteorology announced the completion of its technical and operational readiness to receive the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, through the launch of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at enhancing the accuracy of geographical coverage and raising the efficiency of weather monitoring in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Madinah Al-Munawwarah, the holy sites, and the roads leading to them.
The importance of weather monitoring during Umrah seasons
The National Center for Meteorology's preparations are of paramount importance given the high population density witnessed at the Two Holy Mosques during the holy month of Ramadan. Accurate weather information is a cornerstone of crowd management and ensuring the safety of pilgrims, as precise forecasts support security and service agencies in making appropriate proactive decisions, whether regarding traffic management on highways or crowd control within the courtyards. This reflects the Kingdom's commitment to utilizing all available resources to serve those visiting the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque.
Advanced technologies and Saudi numerical modeling
To enhance the accuracy of its information, the center's plan for this year relies on an integrated technological system that includes a wide network of advanced weather radars, live satellite imagery, and the "Saudi Numerical Weather Forecasting Model." This system works in conjunction with manned observatories and automated and mobile stations operated by a select group of qualified national personnel to ensure the rapid issuance of highly accurate reports and early warnings.
Digital integration with smart applications
The operational plan for the Ramadan season focused heavily on digital transformation and the rapid delivery of information to beneficiaries. Direct technical integration with smart government applications such as "Nusk" and "Tawakkalna," as well as the center's own "Anwaa" application, was activated. This allows pilgrims and visitors to view current weather conditions and forecasts for the next ten days, and receive immediate weather alerts to ensure their safety and comfort while performing the rituals.
CEO statements and airport readiness
For his part, the CEO of the National Center for Meteorology, Dr. Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, affirmed that the center is working in continuous coordination and close monitoring with all relevant authorities to ensure the success of the operational plan. He indicated that preparations included raising the performance level at the center's observatories in various airports across the Kingdom, in order to guarantee the safety of air navigation and optimally manage the expected increase in air traffic during the holy month.
The plan also includes utilizing 14 diverse media platforms to ensure that awareness and warning messages reach the public, and displaying weather forecasts via road signs on highways, which contributes to raising awareness and achieving the highest standards of security and safety for all.
