New Saudi-Russian agreements: 30 deals to enhance cooperation

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced the signing of 30 Saudi-Russian agreements , affirming that the Kingdom has proven its ability to maintain its role as a reliable and stable global energy supplier despite geopolitical challenges and market volatility. During his participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, the minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia will remain a “solid energy supplier under any circumstances,” a message reflecting the depth of the growing strategic partnership between Riyadh and Moscow and its importance to global economic stability.

Growing strategic partnership: 30 new Saudi-Russian agreements

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman revealed that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will witness the signing of 30 new agreements between the two countries, covering vital and diverse sectors such as education, energy, tourism, and industry. This step comes to deepen bilateral relations, which have gained significant momentum in recent years, particularly within the framework of cooperation in the OPEC+ alliance, where Riyadh and Moscow play a pivotal role in stabilizing global oil markets. The minister noted that these new agreements add to approximately 80 other agreements signed in recent months between government entities and private sector companies in both countries, reflecting a strong political will to translate the distinguished relations into tangible projects that benefit both nations.

Saudi Arabia: A safety valve for global energy markets

The Minister of Energy explained that the current circumstances, despite their challenges, have presented an opportunity to demonstrate the Kingdom's strength, the efficiency of its infrastructure, and its ability to ensure the continuity of supplies. He noted that disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz have impacted global oil tanker traffic, prompting some producing countries to reduce their output. In contrast, Saudi Arabia successfully overcame these challenges by relying on alternative routes, transporting its oil exports to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea via the East-West pipeline, thus ensuring the uninterrupted flow of supplies to global markets. He emphasized that the world needs "every molecule and every electron" from various energy sources, and that energy security remains the cornerstone for ensuring stable supplies, sustainability, and affordability.

Promising economic prospects that extend beyond the energy sector

Cooperation between the two countries extends beyond the energy sector to encompass multiple areas that serve the economic diversification goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman explained that the launch of direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Russia, along with the mutual visa exemption, has significantly boosted tourism, trade, and investment between the two nations. These measures have opened broader horizons for the private sector to capitalize on opportunities in both markets, thereby supporting economic growth, creating new opportunities in non-oil sectors, and strengthening the two countries' position as strategic partners on the international stage.
