Iran's Atomic Energy Agency: No damage at Bushehr nuclear power plant after it was hit by a projectile
The Vienna-based agency stated on its X platform account that it “was informed by Iran that a projectile hit the Bushehr nuclear power plant facilities on Tuesday evening. There was no damage to the plant or injuries to the workers.”.

It quoted its Director-General, Rafael Grossi, reiterating his call “for restraint during the conflict to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.”.
The agency emphasized on its X platform that “although there was no damage to the reactor itself and no injuries among personnel, any attack on or near nuclear power plants violates the seven indispensable pillars of ensuring nuclear safety and security during armed conflict and should never happen.”
For its part, Russia condemned on Wednesday the “irresponsible attack” targeting the plant, which was built by Moscow and where Russian experts are present.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “We strongly condemn this irresponsible and completely unacceptable attack, which targeted the inner perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, just meters from an operational unit.”
Zakharova added, “We have repeatedly warned Israel and the United States…that it is absolutely unacceptable to endanger the lives and health of the many Russian citizens present at the site.”

It called on both countries to “abandon these attacks on nuclear facilities, which pose a real risk of a regional radiological and environmental catastrophe.”
The Bushehr plant, Iran’s only operating nuclear power plant, has a generating capacity of 1,000 megawatts, representing a small fraction of the country’s electricity needs.
