National Water Company: A comprehensive plan for the post-Hajj season in Madinah
A comprehensive operational plan to serve the pilgrims
The National Water Company announced its operational and field readiness in Madinah, in preparation for implementing its post-Hajj plan for this year. The company confirmed it will pump and distribute over 639,000 cubic meters of water daily to meet the increased demand from pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque who are returning to Madinah after completing the Hajj rituals.
Historical context and the importance of serving pilgrims
The post-Hajj period is a vital phase in the system of services provided to pilgrims. After performing the fifth pillar of Islam in Mecca, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Medina to visit the Prophet's Mosque and offer their greetings to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This massive influx of people places significant pressure on the city's infrastructure, particularly its water and sanitation services. These efforts are a continuation of a long historical legacy of serving those visiting the Two Holy Mosques, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia prioritizes providing every means of comfort and tranquility for pilgrims and visitors, stemming from its religious and national responsibility.
Strategic impact aligned with Vision 2030
The successful management of water resources during these peak seasons has an impact not only locally but also reflects positively on the Kingdom's image regionally and internationally. These operational plans align with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the Guests of God Service Program, which aims to enrich the religious experience of pilgrims and Umrah performers. Providing sustainable and reliable water services enhances the Kingdom's reputation as a nation capable of efficiently and effectively managing the largest human gatherings in the world, and underscores its commitment to harnessing all capabilities and resources to serve Islam and Muslims.
Technical and human efforts around the clock
The company explained that its operational plan is an extension of the ongoing and intensive efforts being made to serve the pilgrims of the Holy Mosque. This plan is overseen by a specialized team of over 1,203 Saudi administrative, engineering, and technical staff, who work around the clock to ensure the sustainability of water and environmental services with high efficiency and reliability. Preparations included securing strategic water reserves and direct coordination with water production and transmission systems to guarantee stable pumping.
Quality assurance through digital technologies
To ensure the safety of the water supplied, the company implements intensive quality programs that include conducting 818 daily laboratory tests on water networks and strategic reservoirs, in addition to the necessary chemical and biological analyses. The company confirmed that its water and environmental networks in the region are fully managed and monitored through intelligent digital operating systems (SCADA), which track water pressure and quality indicators in real time, ensuring that any operational fluctuations are detected and addressed immediately to provide service at the highest levels of efficiency and quality.
