OCHA praises the efforts of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in the Gaza Strip
A delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) commended the pivotal and effective role played by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in the Gaza Strip, praising the scale and quality of the humanitarian projects implemented by the Centre to alleviate the suffering of the affected population. This commendation came during a field visit by the UN delegation to observe firsthand the nature of the relief interventions and humanitarian response mechanisms provided by the Centre to support the Palestinian people amidst the escalating crisis.
The general context of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza
The Gaza Strip is experiencing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in its modern history, with recent events displacing more than 1.7 million people, nearly 80% of its population. The situation has led to a near-total collapse of infrastructure and basic services, including healthcare, water, and sanitation, exacerbating humanitarian needs to an unprecedented degree. In this context, the importance of international and regional relief efforts, of which the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre is a leading example, becomes paramount in providing urgent and life-saving support.

During their tour, the OCHA delegation was briefed on the center's impactful projects. They began their visit with a tour of the central kitchen, which provides daily hot meals to families in displacement camps, producing approximately 25,000 meals per day. The delegation expressed their admiration for the organization and operational efficiency that ensures food reaches those in need. The tour also included visits to food basket distribution points, where the delegation observed the field distribution of baskets to the most vulnerable families, as part of a relief program aimed at expanding the reach of beneficiaries and extending aid to all governorates in the Gaza Strip. The delegation concluded their visit with an inspection of the central warehouse for Saudi aid, where they were briefed on the mechanisms for receiving aid convoys and the plans for managing and distributing supplies, ensuring a rapid response and the continuous delivery of support to various areas of the Gaza Strip.
