The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Asir region launched a large-scale field campaign under the slogan " Our Markets Are Abundant with Goodness ," targeting public markets and food outlets.
The campaign aims to ensure the availability of essential goods such as vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish, as well as to verify their safety and quality, thereby meeting consumer needs and enhancing food security in the region.

Strengthening field monitoring

This campaign is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance field monitoring of public markets and ensure that establishments comply with approved health and regulatory requirements, thus guaranteeing the provision of safe and high-quality food products for consumers.
Engineer Ali bin Saif Al-Qahtani, Deputy Director General of the Ministry's branch in the Asir region, explained that the campaign is being implemented by specialized inspection teams conducting intensive field visits across the region's various governorates. These visits
include public markets selling fruits and vegetables, as well as meat and fish shops, to ensure the availability of agricultural and animal products, in addition to monitoring display and storage methods and general hygiene within the establishments.

Implementing monitoring and awareness plans

Al-Qahtani pointed out that the inspection teams are working to ensure the availability of essential food products and their compliance with health requirements. They are also raising awareness among market workers about the importance of adhering to regulations and instructions that guarantee food safety and quality. The inspections also include verifying the sources of products offered for sale and the extent to which establishments comply with approved food safety standards.
He emphasized that these efforts aim to raise the level of compliance among commercial establishments and enhance confidence in products sold in the markets, thus contributing to consumer protection and ensuring the continuous availability of food commodities, especially given the increased demand for fresh produce.
He added that the ministry branch continues to implement its inspection and awareness plans through intensified field visits and cooperation with relevant authorities. This supports achieving the highest food safety standards, enhances market stability, and ensures the availability of high-quality food products that meet the expectations of consumers in the Asir region.
