Princess Nourah University celebrates its founding day with a historical digital exhibition

In a move that reflects the integration of modern technology and historical authenticity, the Department of Media and Knowledge Impact at Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University , on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2026, a special exhibition on the occasion of the founding day, within the corridors of the permanent digital media exhibition in the central library of the university.
This celebration comes as a consolidation of the status of this precious national occasion, which symbolizes the historical and cultural depth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the founding date dates back to 1727 AD at the hands of Imam Muhammad bin Saud, starting from Diriyah, the first capital, to establish a state that laid the foundations of security and stability in the Arabian Peninsula.
An interactive journey through time
The exhibition provided visitors from the university's faculty, administrative staff, and students with an opportunity to explore innovative and cutting-edge technologies. The event featured interactive and educational experiences across approximately 20 digital screens, showcasing the history of the Saudi state through its various phases, using creatively designed digital content and educational materials that reflect the Kingdom's diverse cultural heritage.
In this context, Professor Abeer Al Farhan, supervisor of the university's digital media exhibition, explained that " Founding Day showcased a series of interactive digital and artistic activities." These activities included simulations of significant milestones such as "The Journey of Imams and Kings over Three Centuries," "Diriyah and its Status as the First Saudi Capital," as well as highlighting "Historical Palaces in the History of the Saudi State," "Fashion from Different Regions of the Kingdom," and explaining "The Significance of the Founding Day Logo" through innovative touchscreens.
Strengthening national identity and media innovation
The exhibition was not limited to information; it also included entertainment and cultural aspects. Visitors interacted with a selfie camera framed with a national design inspired by the university's founding identity. Visual materials were also displayed highlighting the "Sadu weaving" craft, a cultural element inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, demonstrating the university's commitment to preserving tangible and intangible heritage.
The Princess Nourah University Digital Media Exhibition is the first platform of its kind for digital media content at the level of Saudi universities. Its annual event coincides with national exhibitions aimed at promoting values of loyalty and belonging, and affirming the university's pioneering role in supporting innovation in sustainable media.
Through these events, Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University seeks to achieve the goals of its strategic plan, which is aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, by leading the cognitive and societal impact, and empowering Saudi women to actively participate in preserving national history and presenting it to the world in a modern and honorable manner.
