In an atmosphere filled with feelings of pride and national identity, Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University celebrated the occasion of "Founding Day" through a wide range of cultural and artistic events organized by the various agencies, deanships and colleges of the university, to reflect the historical depth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The celebrations on campus took many forms, with the Deanship of Student Affairs organizing a grand event that drew widespread participation from university staff and students. The highlight of the evening was a musical operetta titled "The Day We Began... A Nation's Story," which artistically recounted the story of Saudi Arabia's founding from its earliest roots, through the stages of unification and development, to the Kingdom's current prosperous present. The operetta featured theatrical performances and artistic displays that embodied the meanings of national unity and pride.

Recalling history and emulating the lives of our ancestors

The events were not limited to theatrical performances; the celebration also included two distinguished exhibitions: "The Day We Started" and "Roots." These exhibitions successfully transported visitors back in time, showcasing social life during the founding era through meticulous recreations of traditional Saudi homes and their details, reflecting the values of family cohesion, simple living, and the generosity and hospitality for which Saudi society has been renowned since ancient times.

Significance and historical dimensions of the founding day

These celebrations hold special significance as they commemorate the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1139 AH / 1727 CE. This occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on three centuries of struggle and development, and to solidify the concept of a nation-state built upon the pillars of security, stability, and unity. The celebration of this day by major educational institutions such as Princess Nourah University directly contributes to strengthening historical awareness among younger generations, connecting them to their rich past and motivating them to contribute to building the future.

Combining authenticity with modern technology

In keeping with technological advancements, the Media and Knowledge Impact Department presented a modern take on the subject through a digital media exhibition held at the Central Library. The exhibition offered visitors an interactive experience and a visual learning journey that reflected the historical depth of the founding day, blending the authenticity of the past with modern tools for historical storytelling.

Throughout the week, various departments within the university will continue to engage with this national occasion through cultural activities aimed at strengthening national identity. This cultural initiative is part of Princess Nourah University's efforts to achieve the goals of its strategic plan, aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, by providing a university environment that supports culture and the arts, and by creating a sustainable educational environment that connects knowledge with national identity.
