Qassim police arrest resident for begging | Public Security efforts

Ongoing security efforts to apprehend violators

As part of the ongoing efforts of Saudi security authorities to maintain security and public order, the Qassim Police announced the arrest of a Bangladeshi resident for begging. The relevant authorities have initiated all necessary legal procedures against him and referred him to the appropriate authorities, in accordance with strict regulations that prohibit such illegal practices and limit their spread in society.

Anti-begging system in the Kingdom

This incident highlights the firm stance taken by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Public Security Directorate, in enforcing the recently enacted anti-begging law. This law aims to eradicate begging in all its forms, whether direct begging in public places or online begging via social media. The law stipulates deterrent penalties, including imprisonment and fines, in addition to deporting non-Saudis convicted of begging and barring them from returning to the Kingdom for work, reflecting the state's seriousness in eliminating this phenomenon.

The importance of directing donations to official platforms

In a related context, Public Security reiterated its repeated call to citizens and residents to direct their charitable donations and contributions through official and approved platforms in the Kingdom. The National Ihsan Platform for Charitable Work, the Sahem Platform, and the Farajat Service are among the most prominent and trusted channels that ensure donations reach their intended beneficiaries with complete transparency and reliability. Directing funds through these channels prevents fraudsters and suspicious entities from exploiting the community's compassion to collect funds illegally, and ensures the maximization of the developmental and social impact of charitable work.

The social and economic dimensions of combating the phenomenon

Combating begging is not only important from a security standpoint, but also has social and economic dimensions. Begging detracts from the civilized appearance of cities and can be a front for other organized crimes or the exploitation of vulnerable groups. By eliminating this phenomenon, the Kingdom enhances the quality of life in its cities and protects its economy from funds that might be collected and transferred through illicit channels, reflecting the government's commitment to providing a safe and stable environment for all, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The role of the community in reporting violators

The Ministry of Interior places great importance on the awareness of Saudi society, which is considered the primary partner in achieving security. Security authorities urge everyone to report any observed cases of begging by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and 999 in the Qassim region and the rest of the Kingdom. The combined efforts of citizens, residents, and security authorities are the best way to eradicate this negative phenomenon and build a conscious and responsible society.
