Several regions in Saudi Arabia experienced varying weather conditions and rainfall over the past 24 hours, according to official weather stations. In this context, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture issued its daily report highlighting rainfall amounts, revealing that the Makkah region recorded the highest levels, indicating a promising rainy season that will contribute to replenishing the Kingdom's water reserves.

Mecca records the highest rainfall rates

The Ministry's report indicated that 51 hydrological and climatological monitoring stations recorded rainfall data between 9:00 AM on Friday, February 6th, and 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. The importance of water and environmental monitoring

These reports are of paramount importance in the context of water resource management in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Rainfall is the primary source of groundwater and surface water recharge in desert and arid regions. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture is working diligently to expand the hydrological monitoring network to cover all regions of the Kingdom, with the aim of collecting accurate data that will aid in strategic water planning, support the agricultural sector, and enhance preparedness for any emergencies that may result from flash floods.

Climatic and geographical diversity

The variation in rainfall between Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province reflects the Kingdom's significant geographical and climatic diversity. This diversity contributes to the variation in agricultural seasons and vegetation cover from one region to another, thus enhancing the environmental diversity that Vision 2030 seeks to preserve and develop through the Saudi Green Initiatives, which rely heavily on maximizing the use of rainwater.
