Accommodation centers in the holy sites are fully prepared for Hajj 1447
The historical context of the Kingdom's efforts in serving the pilgrims
For decades, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has devoted immense attention and care to serving the pilgrims of the Holy Mosque, making their safety and security a top priority in all government plans. With the increasing number of pilgrims annually, the infrastructure in the Holy Sites has undergone a radical transformation, evolving from traditional camps into one of the world's largest and most advanced smart cities. This is exemplified by the fire-resistant, state-of-the-art tent project in Mina, the largest of its kind globally. These accumulated efforts culminate today in the objectives of the "Serving the Guests of God" program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to enrich and enhance the Hajj and Umrah experience, providing the utmost comfort and safety from the moment of arrival until departure.
Details of the readiness of accommodation centers for the Hajj season of 1447 AH
As part of early and intensive preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the completion of the accommodation system in the Holy Sites. This proactive step is part of the comprehensive and approved emergency plans to serve the pilgrims, based on the directives of His Majesty the King. The Ministry revealed the readiness of four main accommodation centers with a massive capacity of approximately 45,000 pilgrims. To ensure the continuity of supplies, 11 strategic warehouses have been equipped with all the necessary relief and logistical materials to support accommodation operations and immediate field response to any emergency.
Advanced logistical facilities in Mina and Arafat
The Ministry explained that the shelters represent a fundamental pillar of the emergency system adopted within the general emergency plan issued by a decision of His Highness the Minister of Interior. This system aims to enhance preparedness and rapid response to emergencies during the Hajj season. Preparations included vital centers in Mina and Arafat, most notably the Al-Mu'aisim, Arafat (1), and Arafat (2) centers. These centers were equipped with the highest standards of safety and operational readiness, in direct coordination with the General Directorate of Civil Defense and specialists in relief and humanitarian work.
Field capabilities and rapid response
To ensure optimal management of the massive population density, the Ministry confirmed that its field preparedness system includes the provision of 15,000 fire-resistant tents, fully equipped and stored in the Ministry's warehouses, ready for immediate deployment as needed. A fleet of heavy machinery and transport buses with drivers has also been made available to ensure smooth traffic flow. On the relief front, more than 12,000 dry meals have been secured and will be provided immediately to those being sheltered as an initial measure, before the distribution of main meals. To enhance the efficiency of personnel, relevant teams are participating in field exercises and intensive training workshops.
The importance and expected impact of the event
This announcement carries immense significance on several levels. Locally, it reflects the efficiency of Saudi government agencies and their high capacity for joint coordination and managing millions of people in limited geographical areas and within a short timeframe. Regionally and internationally, this early preparedness sends a clear message of reassurance to millions of Muslims worldwide and to Islamic countries, confirming that the Kingdom is dedicating all its material and human resources to ensure the safe return of pilgrims to their homelands. The emergency response system employs a phased operational escalation mechanism that ensures rapid decision-making, reflecting a world-class level of professionalism in managing potential crises and disasters.
