Why does the social security pension amount vary each month? Human Resources explains
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia has clarified the reasons behind the variations in the amount of social security benefits paid to beneficiaries from month to month. This clarification comes as part of the Ministry's commitment to transparency and to raising awareness among beneficiaries about the mechanisms of the improved social security system, which relies on a thorough and periodic review of data.
Context of the developed social security system
The enhanced social security system is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's social protection framework, launched in line with the objectives of Vision 2030. Its primary goal is to ensure that financial support reaches its intended beneficiaries with high accuracy, through direct electronic integration with various governmental and private entities. This integration allows the Ministry to verify the financial and social circumstances of beneficiaries in real time, resulting in a variable benefit amount based on the latest available data, rather than a fixed, static sum.
Reasons for the difference in the monthly pension amount
The ministry confirmed that it conducts a monthly review of eligibility requirements for all registered families, and attributed the change in the value of the support to several key factors that directly affect the pension calculation formula, namely:
- Changes in the number of family members: whether by decrease or increase (deletion or addition of a dependent), or as a result of one of the individuals not qualifying in the monthly eligibility cycle.
- Changes in monthly income: Any increase in the family's sources of income, such as increases in the monthly salaries of the head of the household or a dependent, affects the value of the supplementary support.
- The emergence of new sources of income: recording any additional income for the family that did not previously exist.
Steps for assigning dependents to ensure full entitlement
To ensure that pensions are not affected by data errors, the ministry stressed the importance of correctly assigning dependents to their actual place of residence. This can be done through the following steps:
- Log in to the social support and protection platform.
- Go to the unified file and select the “Manage Homes” icon.
- Review the list of registered dependents.
- Pull and assign each dependent to the correct home.
- Ensuring that the registered national address matches the actual address.
- Save the changes and submit the request.
Types of dependents in the system
According to the program, dependents are classified into three categories:
- Close dependent: Includes first and second degree relatives (father, mother, husband/wife, children, siblings, and grandparents).
- Recommended dependent: This is a person who is legally under the care of the family, such as a foster parent.
- Co-occupier: An individual who shares accommodation with the beneficiary but is not a relative.
Economic and social impact: from need to production
The Ministry of Human Resources' role is not limited to providing financial support, but extends to economic empowerment. The Ministry has achieved remarkable accomplishments during the past period, as localization strategies have succeeded in raising the number of Saudis in the private sector to 2.5 million citizens , which has contributed to reducing the unemployment rate to a historic low of 7.5% .
In the context of social security, the Ministry enabled nearly 100,000 beneficiaries to move from a state of need to a state of production, through training and employment programs aimed at integrating them into the labor market, which enhances the sustainability of social and economic development in the Kingdom.
