The Red Crescent raises its readiness level in Asir to cope with weather fluctuations

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority branch in the Asir region announced it has raised its level of preparedness and readiness at all ambulance centers throughout the region in response to weather forecasts indicating unstable and fluctuating conditions. This proactive step is part of the Authority's strategy to ensure a rapid response to emergencies that may arise from rainfall or reduced horizontal visibility.

These measures are particularly important given the geographical nature of the Asir region, characterized by its rugged mountainous terrain and steep slopes, making it more susceptible to flash floods and water accumulation. This is compounded by the dense fog that blankets the highlands, especially in the region's mountainous areas and along the highways connecting the provinces. The authority continuously works to enhance its field presence in such conditions to provide immediate medical and emergency support to those affected.

In a related context, the authority issued an urgent appeal to citizens and residents to exercise extreme caution and stay away from flood channels and wadi beds, and not to risk crossing wadis while they are flowing, regardless of the reason. It also stressed the importance of adhering to traffic safety rules, maintaining safe distances between vehicles, and avoiding speeding, especially given the possibility of vehicles skidding or reduced visibility due to dust, sandstorms, or fog.

The authority confirmed that its central operations room is operating at full capacity, 24/7, to receive emergency calls via the unified number (997). As part of its efforts to utilize technology in emergency services, the authority urged the public to use the “Is’afni” (Rescue Me) application, which allows for highly accurate location tracking to expedite the arrival of ambulance teams, as well as the “First Responder” application. The authority emphasized that this integrated system primarily aims to protect lives and property and enhance public safety in the community.
