Registering newborns in Absher: Steps to issue and deliver a birth certificate

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its rapid progress towards comprehensive digital transformation, with the "Absher" platform serving as the Ministry of Interior's leading technological arm and the primary driver for streamlining government procedures for citizens and residents. In this context, the birth registration as one of the most important services, saving time and effort and eliminating the need for beneficiaries to visit civil affairs offices. This reflects the Ministry's commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in building an effective digital government.

Steps to register newborns in Absher

The Ministry of Interior's Civil Status Agency explained that the process of registering newborns and issuing official documents (birth certificate and family record) is done easily through the Absher platform by following 6 basic steps:

  • Log in to the beneficiary's account on the Absher .
  • Select the "My Services" from the main menu.
  • Click on the "Services" , then select "Civil Status" .
  • Select the "Birth Registration Service" .
  • Review and agree to the terms of service, then fill in the required information.
  • Complete the registration process and request delivery of documents (birth certificate and family record) to the national address via Saudi Post "Subul".

Expanding the scope of digital services in cooperation with "SDAIA"

As part of ongoing development, a new package of electronic civil affairs services was launched last Monday, under the patronage of Major General Dr. Saleh bin Saad Al-Murabba, Supervisor of the Ministry of Interior's Civil Affairs Agency. This launch took place at the Ministry's staff club in Riyadh, in strategic cooperation with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), underscoring the integration between government entities to enhance the quality of life.

The new services included qualitative additions of interest to a wide segment of society, including:

  • Service for requesting the issuance of a family record (replacement for damaged or lost record) electronically.
  • Issuing birth and death certificates for foster families.
  • Issuing death certificates directly through the "Absher" smartphone application is now possible.

The importance of these services extends beyond simply converting paper transactions to electronic ones; it encompasses a wide range of positive impacts. Socially, these services save families time and spare them the hassle of waiting in government offices. Economically, they increase operational efficiency and reduce paper and operational waste.
