Renewing a private driver's license via Absher in 4 steps

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to enhance digital transformation and streamline government procedures for citizens and residents, the Ministry of Interior's "Absher" electronic platform has clarified the approved procedure for renewing private driver's licenses. This clarification is part of the platform's efforts to provide integrated traffic services that save time and effort, eliminating the need for users to visit traditional traffic department offices.

Steps to renew a private driver's license

According to the "Absher FAQ Guide," the license renewal process has become much easier and smoother, as it can be completed in just a few minutes by following the following four steps:

  • Log in to the "Absher" platform using your digital identity (username and password).
  • Click on the "My Services" icon from the main menu.
  • Select "Traffic Services" from the list of available services.
  • Click on the "Renew Driving License" option and follow the instructions to complete the process.

Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet Services

In addition to licensing services, the Absher platform continues to expand its digital services to include more professional vehicle management. The "Digital Vehicle Plate Wallet" service allows users to easily manage their plates. This service is a significant step forward for collectors of distinctive plates, enabling them to transfer and add them to their vehicles or store them in the digital wallet.

The platform clarified via its official account that the wallet's services include:

  • Create a digital wallet specifically for the paintings.
  • The ability to add a license plate from an existing vehicle to the wallet.
  • Add a license plate from a vehicle that has been scrapped (for parts or export) to the wallet.
  • Re-registering a license plate stored in the wallet on a new vehicle.
  • Manage paintings purchased from online auctions and add them directly to the portfolio.

The importance of digital transformation and its economic and social impact

This rapid development of Absher services reflects the success of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in building a robust digital infrastructure. Previously, procedures such as license renewals or plate transfers required lengthy paperwork and crowded government offices. Today, beneficiaries can complete these transactions from home, contributing to improved quality of life, reduced carbon emissions from commuting, and enhanced operational efficiency across government sectors.

Record numbers reflect confidence

Affirming the system's reliability and the millions who rely on it, recent statistics revealed that the "Absher" platform processed over 38 million electronic transactions (38,315,884 transactions) in November alone. This impressive figure reflects the significant reliance of individuals and businesses on the digital services provided by the Ministry of Interior, placing the Kingdom among the world's leading nations in e-government.
