Riyad Bank launches initiatives to support pilgrims through the Bokra program

Integrated national efforts to serve the guests of God

In line with its unwavering commitment to promoting comprehensive and sustainable development and maximizing its positive social impact, Riyad Bank announced the launch of a package of pioneering humanitarian and community initiatives to support national efforts during the Hajj season. This strategic step, undertaken through the bank’s corporate social responsibility program “Bokra,” aims to serve pilgrims to the Holy Mosque and enable them to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind, while targeting diverse segments of society to ensure social solidarity.

Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance and care on serving the pilgrims, a privilege cherished by both the leadership and the people. In this context, the role of the private sector, represented by major institutions such as Riyad Bank, complements the government's tremendous efforts to provide the highest quality services to pilgrims. The significance of these initiatives lies in their reflection of the remarkable evolution of the concept of corporate social responsibility in the Kingdom, which has moved beyond mere charitable acts to sustainable development programs closely aligned with the objectives of Vision 2030, aimed at building a vibrant society and an ambitious nation that provides a dignified life for all.

The "Bokra" program and healthcare initiatives

Among the initiatives launched by Riyad Bank was a large-scale blood donation campaign for pilgrims, conducted from May 10 to 23 in partnership with the Friends of Blood Banks Charitable Association (Dami). The campaign targeted all segments of society in four key regions across the Kingdom. This initiative is of paramount medical and logistical importance, as the association's centers throughout the Kingdom continue to receive donors to support blood banks in the Makkah region and actively contribute to meeting the increased medical demand and enhancing preparedness for any emergencies during the Hajj season.

Enabling people with disabilities to perform Hajj rituals

Believing in everyone's right to perform religious rites with ease and comfort, Riyad Bank, in partnership with the Nusuk Humanitarian Foundation (under the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah) and the Nafh Al Amal Association, launched a national campaign to enable the most vulnerable people with disabilities to perform Hajj with dignity and safety. This noble initiative targets 400 beneficiaries from across the Kingdom, encompassing various categories of disabilities such as mobility, visual, and upper limb impairments, in addition to providing support for 200 companions. Comprehensive logistical and medical support is provided to ensure the comfort of pilgrims with disabilities, showcasing the Kingdom's bright humanitarian image both regionally and internationally.

Supporting productive families and boosting the local economy

On the economic and social front, the bank launched an initiative to empower productive families by providing dedicated sales outlets. This step was taken in partnership with the Nusk Humanitarian Foundation, in cooperation with the Royal Commission for Makkah and the Holy Sites, and the Jana Center. The initiative falls under the economic and social empowerment track of the "Bokra" program and aims to open direct and organized sales outlets for 80 productive families who are beneficiaries of social security and those with limited income. This is achieved through 40 equipped sales outlets in Makkah and the Holy Sites, offering products that meet the needs of pilgrims. This approach not only enriches the pilgrim's experience but also ensures a sustainable income for the beneficiary families, which positively impacts the local economy.

A sustainable impact that aligns with Vision 2030

In this context, Mr. Nader Al-Kuraia, CEO of Riyad Bank, affirmed that these initiatives are an extension of the bank's role and its tireless efforts to promote comprehensive and sustainable development in the Kingdom, and its commitment to creating effective partnerships that ensure impact and growth at all levels. They also reflect the bank's commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at raising the level of preparedness and readiness and harnessing the best capabilities to serve the pilgrims of the Holy Mosque. These initiatives complement the portfolio of projects and social responsibility programs launched by Riyad Bank to create a sustainable social and developmental impact, in line with the objectives of the bank's strategic plan and the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
