Five military clothing stores in Riyadh were closed for violating regulations
The security committee monitoring shops selling and tailoring military clothing in the Riyadh region carried out a large inspection campaign, which resulted in the confiscation of large quantities of military ranks and emblems that violated regulations, in addition to closing five shops that were found to be involved in practices that violated the regulations for selling and tailoring military clothing.
Campaign details and official guidelines
These intensified field operations are part of the ongoing inspection and monitoring tours conducted by the committee, in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, and under the direct supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Region. These directives aim to regulate the market and prevent any violations that could undermine the prestige of the military sector or disrupt the security regulations in place in the Kingdom.
Integration of efforts between government sectors
The inspection tour witnessed a high level of coordination between several government and security agencies, reflecting the integration of roles to ensure the enforcement of the law. The campaign involved the Ministry of the National Guard, the Ministry of Commerce, the Presidency of State Security, the Riyadh Police, the Riyadh Passport Office, the Riyadh Municipality, and the Riyadh Labor Office. This joint cooperation ensures the monitoring of violations in all their aspects, whether commercial, labor, or security-related, and the immediate application of deterrent legal measures against violators.
The security dimension and the importance of regulating military clothing
These campaigns are of paramount importance, extending far beyond simply regulating the commercial market; the issue of military uniforms is directly linked to national security. Saudi Arabia enforces strict regulations regarding the trade, sale, and tailoring of military uniforms and insignia to prevent these items from falling into the hands of unauthorized individuals, thus thwarting any attempts to impersonate security personnel or use these uniforms for illicit purposes that could threaten public safety.
The regulations stipulate that businesses must obtain precise and specific licenses to conduct this activity, and must maintain records documenting sales and tailoring services for military personnel based on their official identification. Controlling the use of insignia and rank markings is a proactive measure to prevent any loopholes that could be exploited by unscrupulous individuals, thereby enhancing security and preserving the integrity of military and security institutions.
Continued monitoring to ensure compliance
The relevant authorities confirmed that these inspections are not a one-off event, but rather part of an ongoing strategy to track down violators and enforce legal penalties, which may include fines, closure of establishments, confiscation of seized goods, and even deportation of workers violating residency and labor laws. The security committee urges all businesses operating in this sector to fully comply with regulations and instructions to avoid legal repercussions.
