On behalf of the King, the Governor of Riyadh honors the winners of the Princess Seetah Award

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, sponsored the ceremony honoring the winners of the Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award for Excellence in Social Work in its thirteenth session for the year 2025. The ceremony was held in the capital, Riyadh, in the presence of a number of officials and pioneers in charitable work, where ten winners were celebrated for their distinguished initiatives that serve the community.
A historical legacy and a noble humanitarian message
The Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz Award derives its significance from the great legacy left by Her Royal Highness Princess Seetah bint Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on her – who was known throughout her life for her charitable initiatives and boundless support for underprivileged families and those in need. The award was established by order of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz – may God have mercy on him – to serve as a beacon of institutional social work, aiming to cultivate a culture of philanthropy and transform it from individual efforts into a professional and sustainable system, thus commemorating the memory of the late princess and her exemplary life of generosity and giving.
National impact and alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This event holds significant importance both locally and regionally, as the award's objectives align directly with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to increase the non-profit sector's contribution to the GDP and promote social responsibility among individuals and institutions. The award plays a pivotal role in stimulating healthy competition among governmental, private, and non-profit entities to develop innovative solutions to social challenges, thereby strengthening national cohesion and reinforcing the principles of environmental and social sustainability.
Details of the ceremony and honoring the winners
The ceremony included a speech by His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, who emphasized that the award has become a noble endeavor, embodying the precision of selection and addressing the nation's needs. The Secretary-General of the award, Dr. Fahd Al-Maghlouth, also noted the significant increase in participation, with 754 participants competing in this cycle, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of social work.
The list of winners in the various award categories is as follows:
- Excellence in National Achievement (Government Entities): Shared equally between the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) and the General Directorate of Education in the Qassim Region.
- Excellence in Islamic Endowment (Endowment Entities): Shared equally between the Endowment for the Glorification of the Two Revelations in Medina and the Islamic University in Medina.
- Excellence in social work programs (non-profit organizations): shared equally between the Neighborhood Centers Association in the Makkah region and the Hajj and Umrah Services Association in the Al-Jawf region.
- Social Work Pioneers (Individuals): Won by Professor Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Othaim.
- Corporate Social Responsibility: Won by Sahara International Petrochemical Company “SABIC”.
- Environmental sustainability: shared equally between the Hail Region Municipality and King Khalid University.
Guest of honor and the next session
In a gesture of appreciation, His Royal Highness the Prince of Riyadh honored the Seeta bint Abdulaziz Endowment as the guest of honor for the session. The award was received by the Endowment's Secretary-General, Khalid bin Mohammed Zahran, in recognition of the Endowment's pioneering role in humanitarian work. The ceremony concluded with Dr. Al-Maghlouth announcing the opening of nominations for the fourteenth session, themed "Human Development and Strengthening Social Cohesion and National Loyalty," thus continuing the award's mission of placing human beings at the heart of development and as the foundation for building a strong and cohesive nation.
