Safe Ramadan Roads Guide: Roads Authority Initiative to Promote Safety

The General Authority for Roads announced the launch of its new awareness initiative, the " Safe Roads Guide ," coinciding with the start of the holy month of Ramadan. This step comes as part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to improve road safety and enhance traffic awareness among all road users, contributing to a better quality of life and safer, more efficient transportation during Ramadan.
The importance of the guide and the timing of its release during Ramadan
The launch of this guide is particularly important during the holy month of Ramadan, given the changes in traffic patterns and driving behavior. Roads typically experience high traffic volumes at specific times, especially during peak hours before Iftar (the breaking of the fast), in addition to increased traffic during the evening hours. The guide aims to provide essential advice and guidance to help reduce traffic accidents that may result from rushing or fatigue while fasting, thus enhancing public safety.
Guide contents and safety instructions
The authority explained in its official statement that the "Safe Roads Guide" includes a comprehensive set of tips and guidelines for users of all road networks, whether within cities or on highways frequently used by pilgrims performing Umrah. The guide contains:
- A detailed explanation of the meanings of warning, regulatory, and directional signs on roads.
- Tips for safe driving and avoiding accident causes.
- Guidelines to raise awareness among drivers about the need to comply with traffic regulations.
The public can access the guide and benefit from its contents by visiting the digital link provided by the authority.
Roads Sector Strategy and the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This launch is an integral part of the pivotal role played by the General Authority for Roads, as the supervisory and regulatory body for the sector in the Kingdom. The Authority works to achieve the strategic objectives of the roads sector, stemming from the Kingdom's Vision 2030, by developing the necessary policies and legislation. This strategy is based on several key pillars, including safety, quality, and traffic management.
Through these initiatives, the Authority seeks to achieve world records, aiming to bring the Kingdom to the sixth highest global ranking in road quality , in addition to reducing traffic accident fatality rates to less than 5 cases per 100,000 people by 2030, which reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to protecting lives and property and raising the efficiency of the infrastructure.
