The United States announced that a Russian envoy met with American envoys in Florida on Wednesday, in the first talks between the two sides since the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran .
Steve Witkopf, Trump's special envoy, said in a statement posted on the X platform Wednesday after his talks with Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, that "the two teams discussed a variety of topics and agreed to remain in contact."
Containing rising oil prices
These talks come after the United States earlier this week lifted some sanctions on Russian oil in an effort to curb rising prices amid the trade war with Iran.
Trump stated this week that Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he spoke on Monday, expressed his willingness to provide assistance regarding the war in the Middle East.
