New Saudi relief aid arrives in Gaza
In a new step within its ongoing humanitarian efforts, a new Saudi aid convoy arrived in the Gaza Strip, provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). This convoy, carrying a variety of food baskets, aims to enhance food security and alleviate the suffering of the population amidst the current crisis in the Strip.
General context and historical Saudi role
This support is an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause on all levels. Since its establishment in 2015, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has led the Kingdom's humanitarian arm, implementing relief projects in dozens of countries worldwide, with a particular focus on areas experiencing crises and disasters. This aid comes as part of the popular campaign to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, launched through the Center's "Sahem" platform, which has witnessed significant participation from citizens and residents of the Kingdom in providing humanitarian support.
The importance of aid in the face of an unprecedented crisis
This aid is of paramount importance given the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which has deteriorated sharply since October 2023. International organizations, including the United Nations and the World Food Programme, have repeatedly warned of the imminent risk of famine threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, particularly children and women. With infrastructure destroyed and the vast majority of the population displaced, access to food and clean water has become a daily struggle. Locally, these convoys provide a lifeline to displaced families and directly contribute to bridging the critical food gap. Regionally and internationally, these efforts underscore the Kingdom's pivotal role as a key player in global humanitarian action and highlight its commitment to Arab and Islamic solidarity.
Details of the convoy and field efforts
The Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage, the implementing partner of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in the Gaza Strip, received the aid shipment in preparation for distributing it to the most vulnerable families. Alongside the distribution of food baskets, the center's central kitchen continues its daily efforts in preparing and distributing hot meals. Yesterday, 25,000 hot meals were distributed in central and southern Gaza, benefiting 25,000 individuals and providing them with an immediate source of energy and nutrition amidst extremely difficult living conditions.
This aid is an integral part of an ongoing Saudi air, sea and land relief bridge, reflecting the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, to ensure that humanitarian support reaches the brotherly Palestinian people and helps them overcome this ordeal.
