Saudi aid to Yemen: 2,400 food baskets for families in Marib
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 2,400 food baskets in Al-Madinah District, Marib Governorate. This aid benefited 16,800 individuals from the most vulnerable families and displaced persons, as part of the second phase of the emergency food intervention project in Yemen.
The general context of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen
This aid comes at a critical time for Yemen, which has been suffering for years from an armed conflict that has led to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. According to UN reports, millions of Yemenis need some form of humanitarian assistance to survive. The conflict has caused the economy to collapse and infrastructure to be destroyed, exacerbating food insecurity and widespread malnutrition, particularly among children and women. Marib governorate is one of the areas hosting the largest number of internally displaced persons, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing other conflict zones seeking refuge there. This places immense pressure on limited resources and increases the urgent need for relief support.
The importance of aid and its expected impact
The distribution of these food baskets is of paramount importance on several levels. Locally, this aid provides a lifeline to beneficiary families, helping to secure their basic food needs for several weeks and alleviating their daily struggle to find sustenance. It also strengthens the resilience of the local community in the face of harsh conditions. Regionally, these efforts reflect the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting the stability of Yemen and the region, and underscore its fraternal and humanitarian commitment to its neighbors. Internationally, these initiatives highlight the Kingdom's contribution as one of the largest donors of humanitarian aid to Yemen and support humanitarian response plans overseen by international organizations.
Ongoing efforts from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center
This distribution is part of a comprehensive series of humanitarian projects implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center throughout Yemen. The Center's efforts extend beyond food aid to include other vital sectors such as health, water and sanitation, education, and shelter, aiming to provide comprehensive and sustainable support that contributes to improving the living conditions of Yemenis and alleviating the suffering they are enduring. Through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the Kingdom reaffirms its unwavering support for the Yemeni people in their time of need.
