Saudi Arabia begins preparations for Hajj 1448 early to enhance the pilgrims' experience

A proactive step towards an exceptional Hajj

In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's proactive approach to organizing Hajj affairs, His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, announced the commencement of preparations for the 1448 AH Hajj season by distributing the initial arrangements document to the Hajj affairs offices. This announcement was made during the annual closing ceremony, "Khitamuh Misk," organized by the Ministry on Friday evening, in the presence of representatives from the Hajj affairs offices and partner organizations, celebrating the success of the 1447 AH Hajj season and honoring the distinguished entities and individuals who served the pilgrims.

Historical context and the importance of early planning

Since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed paramount importance on serving the Two Holy Mosques and caring for their visitors. Managing and organizing the Hajj, which attracts millions of Muslims from around the world annually, presents a formidable logistical challenge. Over the decades, the Kingdom has developed a comprehensive system of services and infrastructure to ensure the safety of pilgrims and facilitate their performance of the rituals. This early announcement of preparations for the 1448 AH Hajj season is part of a broader strategy aimed at shifting from seasonal operations to year-round planning. This approach, aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, provides Hajj affairs offices in various countries with ample time to plan, contract, and select the best services for their pilgrims, positively impacting the quality of the pilgrim's spiritual experience from the moment they depart their home country until their safe return.

The success of the Hajj system and the support of the leadership

During his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Al-Rabeeah emphasized that the successes achieved during the last Hajj season were thanks first and foremost to God, and then to the generous support the Hajj system receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the close and direct oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He commended the integrated efforts of the various entities working under the supervision of the Supreme Hajj Committee, chaired by the Minister of Interior, which contributed to enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind.

Developments and timeline for the 1448 AH season

The Minister unveiled a package of new developments for the upcoming Hajj season, including a comprehensive package encompassing services at the holy sites and accommodation in Mecca and Medina, with mandatory transportation and catering services throughout the pilgrims' stay. The Hajj packages have also been revamped into three categories to better suit the pilgrims' preferences and needs. He announced a detailed timeline for the work of the Hajj Affairs Offices, beginning on the 15th of Muharram 1448 AH, which includes the stages of accommodation selection, contracting for the comprehensive package, announcing Hajj registration in the pilgrim's home country, and concluding with the finalization of airline contracts by September 26, 2026.

Honoring outstanding individuals with the “Beitam” award

At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Excellency the Minister honored the winners of the “Labitam” Award for Excellence in Services to Pilgrims. In the category of Hajj Affairs Offices, the offices in Malaysia, Iraq, and Ethiopia received the Diamond Award, while the offices in Djibouti, the Comoros, and Turkey received the Gold Award. In the category of Air Transport Companies, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Flynas, Royal Brunei Airlines, and Middle East Airlines were honored. Distinguished international Hajj agencies were also recognized for their efforts in enhancing services provided to pilgrims and promoting effective communication to ensure a successful and well-organized Hajj season.
