Today's weather: Winds and dust in 6 regions, and rain in the north
The National Center for Meteorology revealed in its daily report details of weather conditions on Tuesday in various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, indicating the continuation of weather fluctuations characterized by active surface winds and low horizontal visibility in several vital areas.
Continued dust-laden winds
The report explained that the prevailing weather conditions are characterized by continued dust-laden winds, leading to near-zero horizontal visibility, especially on highways and in open areas. These conditions affect large parts of the Al-Jawf and Northern Borders , with effects extending to parts of the Hail, Qassim, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions . These fluctuations are part of the seasonal changes the Kingdom experiences, during which surface air currents become active, stirring up suspended dust.
Chance of rain and fog
Meanwhile, there remains a chance of light rain in scattered areas of northern Saudi Arabia. The center also warned of the possibility of dense fog forming during the night and early morning hours, which could significantly reduce visibility, in parts of the northern regions, as well as the southwestern highlands, including the Jazan and Asir .
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the maritime situation, the report provided the following data:
- The Red Sea: It is experiencing northerly to northwesterly surface winds with speeds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h, with wave heights of one to two meters, and the sea state is light to moderate.
- The Arabian Gulf: is experiencing a more turbulent situation, with westerly to northwesterly winds reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h, and waves rising from one and a half to two and a half meters, making the sea state moderate to rough, which calls for caution for seafarers and fishermen.
Special alerts for the Eastern Province
The center issued an advanced warning for the Eastern Province, cautioning of blowing dust starting at 9:00 AM and continuing until 7:00 PM. The accompanying effects include strong winds, near-zero horizontal visibility (1-3 kilometers), and high waves.
The cities and governorates affected by this alert include: Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Qatif, Ras Tanura, Al-Ahsa, Al-Udayd, Abqaiq, Hafr Al-Batin, Khafji, Al-Nairiyah, and Qaryat Al-Ulya .
The importance of caution
Due to these weather conditions, drivers on highways connecting these areas are advised to exercise caution and maintain a safe distance due to reduced visibility. Those with respiratory conditions and asthma are also advised to avoid direct exposure to dust and sand during peak wind activity and to continuously monitor updates from the National Center of Meteorology.
