Saudi Arabia weather forecast for today, Sunday: Rain and fog in the Eastern Province

The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, in its daily weather report, indicated that weather fluctuations are expected to continue across several regions of the Kingdom on Sunday. This report is part of the ongoing monitoring of weather conditions to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and to issue necessary warnings to vital sectors.
Weather details and thunderstorms
The center explained in its statement that the chance of moderate to heavy thunderstorms remains, accompanied by hail and strong winds that may stir up dust and sand. This weather pattern is particularly concentrated in parts of the eastern region, necessitating caution while traveling, especially in open areas and on highways.
In a related context, the report warned of the formation of dense fog, which could reduce or even eliminate horizontal visibility at times, particularly in parts of the Eastern Province during the early morning and late night hours. Fog is a common weather phenomenon during this transitional period of the year and requires adherence to traffic regulations and public safety guidelines.
Surface winds and their impact on northern regions
On another note, the weather report indicated the continued impact of active winds stirring up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility in parts of the Al-Jawf and Northern Borders regions. These warnings are particularly important for travelers on highways and international routes connecting the north of the Kingdom, as dust storms directly affect traffic flow.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the marine conditions, the center provided a detailed breakdown of wave and wind movements:
Red Sea
- Surface winds: They will be northwesterly to northerly on the northern and central parts at a speed of 10-25 km/h, while they will turn southeasterly and southwesterly on the southern part at a speed of 12-35 km/h.
- Wave height: ranging from half a meter to one meter on the northern and central parts, and from half a meter to one and a half meters on the southern part.
- Sea state: Light waves in the north and center, and light to moderate waves in the south.
Arabian Gulf
- Surface winds: Southeasterly to southerly at a speed of 15-38 km/h in the north and center, turning in the evening to northeasterly and easterly, then southwesterly and westerly in the south at a speed of up to 50 km/h with thunderstorms.
- Wave height: from half a meter to one and a half meters, and may exceed two meters with the formation of rain-bearing thunderclouds.
- Sea conditions: Light to moderate waves, becoming rough in conjunction with rainy conditions.
The relevant authorities urge everyone to follow the official reports issued by the National Center for Meteorology and to comply with the instructions of the Civil Defense and Traffic during these weather fluctuations to ensure public safety.
