Saudi Arabia weather: Heat wave in the Eastern Province and thunderstorms in Jazan
The National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia issued its daily weather, revealing significant climatic variations across the Kingdom. While the Eastern Province is experiencing a severe heat wave with temperatures reaching 48 degrees Celsius, the highlands of the Jazan region are preparing for moderate rainfall accompanied by strong surface winds and flash floods.
Summer heat hits the Eastern Province
According to the center's warnings, the Eastern Province will be affected by a heat wave starting in the morning and continuing until 5:00 PM. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 47 and 48 degrees Celsius, and this heat wave will affect several governorates. These climatic conditions are typical for the region during the summer, as its geographical features and proximity to the Arabian Gulf contribute to high temperatures and humidity. Experts advise residents to take necessary precautions, such as avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours and drinking plenty of fluids to prevent heat exhaustion and heatstroke, especially for the elderly, children, and those working outdoors.
Rain and floods in Jazan
In stark contrast, the Jazan region is experiencing a different weather pattern, with the center warning of moderate rainfall that may be accompanied by thunderstorms. This rain will be accompanied by active winds that could stir up dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility. The center also warned of the possibility of flash floods in valleys and ravines. The affected areas include the governorates of Al-Harath, Al-Dayer Bani Malik, Al-Raith, Al-Ardah, Al-Aydabi, Fifa, and Haroub, as well as open areas and highways. This weather pattern is expected to continue until 8:00 PM. These rains are part of the climatic pattern of the southwestern region of the Kingdom, which is influenced by monsoon winds during the summer, making it a major source of water and a vital support for the region's renowned agricultural sector.
Close monitoring of Saudi Arabia's weather conditions
The National Center for Meteorology continues its vital role in monitoring weather phenomena and providing accurate and up-to-date information to citizens and residents. These early warnings enable relevant authorities, such as Civil Defense and the health sector, to prepare and take the necessary preventive measures to protect lives and property. The Center emphasizes the importance of following its official reports and not being misled by rumors to obtain reliable information about weather developments across the Kingdom.
