The Saudi Cabinet affirms the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the need to end the Gaza war

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, chaired the Cabinet meeting held today, which carried important political messages and strategic affirmations regarding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm and unwavering position on regional issues, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, which Riyadh considers its primary and central issue.

The Council began its session by reviewing the extensive diplomatic consultations and talks the Kingdom has held in recent days with a number of brotherly and friendly nations. These efforts are part of the Kingdom's leading role and its tireless pursuit of containing the escalating crises in the Middle East. The Council reviewed the efforts undertaken to establish the foundations of regional and international peace and security, emphasizing the importance of multilateral international action to address the shared challenges facing the region, thereby contributing to global development and stability.

In the most prominent of these matters, the Cabinet reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to Saudi foreign policy. The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom's full support for all international and regional efforts aimed at achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the Gaza , to end the escalating humanitarian suffering endured by the Palestinian people as a result of the ongoing military operations, and to ensure the delivery of relief aid to those affected.

This stance is a continuation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's historical legacy of defending Palestinian rights in all international forums. The Council emphasized the necessity of enabling the brotherly Palestinian people to attain their legitimate and inalienable rights. The Council reiterated Saudi Arabia's unwavering position on the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This statement reflects Riyadh's commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions as the fundamental and sole framework for a just and comprehensive solution.

These statements are of paramount importance at this juncture, given the unprecedented geopolitical tensions in the region. The Kingdom, leveraging its political, economic, and religious influence, seeks to mobilize global public opinion to push for de-escalation and prioritize diplomatic dialogue. The Cabinet's affirmation today sends a clear message to the international community that lasting stability in the Middle East cannot be achieved without a genuine political horizon that ends the occupation and guarantees security and dignity for all. It also warns against the consequences of continued escalation, which threatens international peace and security.
