The Saudi consulate in Istanbul transfers a citizen to the Kingdom via medical evacuation
The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul initiated procedures on Wednesday to transfer a Saudi citizen from Turkey to the Kingdom via medical evacuation flight, so he can continue his treatment at specialized hospitals within Saudi Arabia. This step comes as an immediate response to the citizen's health condition and reflects the vital role played by Saudi diplomatic missions abroad.
The consulate explained via its official account on the "X" platform that this procedure comes within the framework of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' ongoing commitment to the care and service of Saudi citizens residing abroad, and stems from its mandate to overcome any difficulties they may face. The head of the Saudi Citizens Affairs Department at the consulate accompanied the citizen to the airport to ensure the smooth transfer and evacuation process until he boarded the plane.
Healthcare for citizens abroad: a top priority
Medical air evacuations of Saudi citizens from abroad are a cornerstone of the Saudi Arabian government's commitment to the safety and health of its citizens wherever they may be. The Kingdom boasts one of the largest and most modern medical evacuation fleets in the region, equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and staffed by highly qualified personnel capable of handling critical cases during air transport, ensuring patients' safe return home to receive the necessary care.
Integration of diplomatic and health efforts
This event reflects the high level of ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant health authorities in the Kingdom, as well as the Ministry of Defense, represented by its Medical Evacuation Department. These entities work together as an integrated system to ensure a rapid response to emergencies faced by citizens while traveling, whether for tourism or work. Consulates and embassies act as the primary "operations room," receiving reports and immediately coordinating with local authorities in host countries and relevant authorities within the Kingdom.
Leadership directives and citizen service
These efforts are in line with the wise directives of our leadership – may God protect them – which places the health and safety of citizens at the forefront of its priorities and consistently emphasizes the need to dedicate all resources to serving citizens abroad and providing them with medical care when needed. This approach is a cornerstone of Saudi policy, as care is not limited to the domestic sphere but extends to all citizens across the globe, thus reinforcing their sense of security and reassurance that their country stands by them in all circumstances.
