The Crown Prince receives a message from the Mauritanian President to strengthen relations

In a move reflecting the deep fraternal relations and ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a written message from His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The message was received on behalf of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh with His Excellency Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad.

During the meeting, the strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were reviewed, and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields were discussed, in order to serve common interests and fulfill the aspirations of both leaderships and peoples. Views were also exchanged on key regional and international issues of mutual concern, underscoring the ongoing coordination between Riyadh and Nouakchott in international forums.

Historical context and established relationships

This message comes within the framework of the distinguished historical relations that unite the Kingdom and Mauritania, relations based on ties of religion, language, and shared history. The Kingdom has long been a major supporter of Mauritania in its development journey, with the Saudi Development Fund having provided financing for numerous vital projects in Mauritania over the decades, encompassing infrastructure, health, education, and water sectors, thus contributing significantly to improving the lives of Mauritanian citizens.

Strategic importance and expected impact

This diplomatic engagement is particularly important given the challenges facing the Arab region and the Sahel. Mauritania, with its strategic geographic location, is a pivotal player in counterterrorism efforts and in achieving stability in the Sahel. Saudi-Mauritanian coordination is a cornerstone for supporting regional security and addressing shared security and economic challenges. This engagement is expected to contribute to strengthening economic cooperation and opening new avenues for Saudi investments in Mauritania, especially in the renewable energy, mining, and agriculture sectors, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to diversify investments and enhance international partnerships.

This event reflects the keenness of the leadership of both countries to continue consultation and coordination, in order to ensure the unification of positions on critical issues, enhance joint Arab and Islamic action, and serve the goals of sustainable development and stability in the region and the world.
