His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a written message from His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Moez, President of the Republic of Maldives, relating to the strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to support and strengthen them in various fields.

The depth of Saudi-Maldivian relations

Relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Maldives are characterized by a long history of cooperation and mutual respect. The Kingdom is a key strategic partner for the Maldives within the Islamic world, a relationship that has been rooted in decades of cooperation, during which the Kingdom has actively contributed to supporting development and infrastructure projects in the Maldives through the Saudi Fund for Development.

Relations have recently witnessed remarkable development, especially with the convergence of views between the two countries on many regional and international issues, and the keenness of the two leaderships to coordinate positions in international forums, especially with regard to issues of the Islamic world and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Prospects for economic and tourism cooperation

This engagement is particularly important given the economic momentum the Kingdom is experiencing under Vision 2030, as the Vision's goals align with the Maldives' development aspirations. The tourism sector is a key area of cooperation between the two countries; while the Maldives is a leading global tourist destination, the Kingdom is developing major tourism projects such as the Red Sea Project and NEOM.

This rapprochement opens the door wide for the exchange of experiences and investments in the tourism sector, in addition to enhancing trade and investment in other sectors such as renewable energy, transportation, and logistics, which will benefit the people of the two brotherly countries.

The Kingdom's leading role

This message reflects the high international regard for the leading role played by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in promoting stability and development in the region and beyond. It underscores the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia in supporting brotherly and friendly nations, and its continued diplomatic efforts to build bridges of cooperation and establish sustainable strategic partnerships that serve common interests and enhance international peace and security.
