
The Minister of Defense presents the King Abdulaziz Medal to the Pakistani Army Chief
In accordance with the Royal Decree of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, presented the King Abdulaziz Medal of the First Class to His Excellency Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan. This prestigious honor recognizes His Excellency's significant efforts and active role in strengthening the bonds of friendship and developing avenues for joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Ceremonies of tradition and review of relations
The ceremony took place during His Royal Highness the Minister of Defense's reception of His Excellency the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan at his office in Riyadh today. Prince Khalid bin Salman began the meeting by congratulating Field Marshal Asim Munir on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, expressing his best wishes for his success in his new duties serving his country and its brotherly people.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, with both sides discussing ways to enhance strategic cooperation, particularly in the military and defense fields, as well as discussing the most prominent regional and international issues of common interest, and the efforts made to establish the foundations of security and peace in the region and the world.
The depth of Saudi-Pakistani relations
This visit and this honor are of particular importance given the historical and strategic ties that bind Riyadh and Islamabad. Saudi-Pakistani relations are unique, based on bonds of Islamic brotherhood and a shared destiny, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan serving as two fundamental pillars of stability in the Muslim world.
Over the decades, relations have witnessed continuous development on various levels, particularly in the military and security spheres, where the armed forces of both countries conduct regular joint maneuvers and exercises to enhance combat readiness and exchange expertise. The awarding of the King Abdulaziz Medal of the First Order is a clear indication of the Saudi leadership's appreciation for the standing of Pakistan and its military leaders, and a confirmation of the shared desire to propel this partnership to broader horizons in a way that serves the interests of both brotherly nations.
Official attendance
The reception and ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials from both sides. From the Saudi side, His Highness Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Deputy Minister of Defense, His Excellency Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, His Excellency Advisor to His Highness the Minister of Defense for Intelligence Affairs, Mr. Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, and the Military Attaché at the Kingdom’s Embassy in Islamabad, Brigadier General Bandar bin Hamad Al-Haqbani.
On the Pakistani side, those present included the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Kingdom, Ahmed Farooq, the Secretary to His Excellency the Chief of Defense Forces and Commander of the Army, Major General Muhammad Jawad Tariq, and the Military Attaché at the Pakistani Embassy to the Kingdom, Brigadier General Mohsin Javed.
