The Ministry of Defense intercepts 9 drones and condemns the targeting of the US embassy

Saudi Ministry of Defense announced

Widespread condemnation of the attack on diplomatic missions

In a related context, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the brutal Iranian attack targeting the US Embassy in Riyadh. The Kingdom considered this dangerous escalation a flagrant violation of international norms and an unjustified infringement upon the diplomatic immunities guaranteed by international conventions.

The statement stressed that targeting diplomatic missions is completely contrary to the Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, which clearly stipulate the need to protect diplomatic missions and provide security for their staff, even in times of armed conflict and political tensions, emphasizing that such cowardly acts undermine regional stability.

National sovereignty and the dangers of regional escalation

Strategically, the Kingdom emphasized its categorical rejection of the use of its territory or airspace as a platform for aggression against any other country, noting that Iran's blatant behavior and repeated violations, despite previous warnings, are pushing the entire region toward a dangerous slide of military escalation. This stance reaffirms the Kingdom's commitment to its unwavering policy of maintaining international peace and security, while upholding its sovereign right to protect its borders.

Full readiness and the legitimate right to respond

The Ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing that the safety of the Kingdom's territory, its citizens, and residents, as well as the protection of vital interests and diplomatic facilities, is a red line that cannot be crossed. The Kingdom reiterated its full right to take all necessary legal and military measures to deter any aggression and to exercise its legitimate right to self-defense in accordance with international law, to ensure security and deter any attempts to destabilize the region.
