Early retirement for teachers 1447: Application requirements via the Fares system
The Saudi Ministry of Education has announced the opening of applications for early retirement for its teaching and administrative staff who have completed at least 20 years of active service. The ministry clarified that the application process will be entirely electronic through the "Faris" self-service system, a step aimed at streamlining procedures and achieving a comprehensive digital transformation of its services.
Background of the decision and its organizational context
This announcement comes as part of the Ministry of Education's organizational plans to manage its human resources with high efficiency. The early retirement system is considered one of the strategic tools that allows the Ministry to restructure its staff and inject new talent into the education system, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 for developing the education sector. The decision is based on the regulations and bylaws in force in the Civil Service Law and the Social Insurance Law, which grant employees who have completed a specified period of service the right to request termination of their service before reaching the statutory retirement age.
The importance of the step and its expected impact
The decision to allow early retirement has multifaceted importance at the local level. For employees, this option provides an opportunity for those in the education sector who have dedicated many years of service to plan their future, whether through retirement or pursuing private projects. At the level of the education system, the decision contributes to creating job vacancies that can be filled by qualified young graduates, thus helping to reduce unemployment rates and revitalize the educational field with fresh ideas and perspectives that meet the demands of the times. This measure is also part of managing the government workforce in a way that ensures a balance between accumulated experience and the ongoing need for renewal and development.
Application details via the Fares system
The Ministry has set the application period to begin on May 3, 2026 (corresponding to 16 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1447 AH) and continue until May 21, 2026 (corresponding to 4 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH). It confirmed that applications are open to all eligible employees, including those in teaching positions, administrative staff, support staff, wage earners, and engineers. Applications will be submitted through the "Faris" system, the Ministry's unified digital platform for human resources services, which allows employees to complete all procedures independently.
Application review process
The Ministry of Education emphasized that submitting an application does not guarantee final approval. All applications will undergo a thorough review and audit process in accordance with established regulations and standards, and in the best interests of the educational process. Each application will be considered individually to ensure that the educational process in schools and various departments is not disrupted. Those whose applications are accepted will leave their positions at the end of the 1447-1448 AH academic year to ensure stability in the educational field until the end of the year.
