Student results by ID number via the Noor system: Education Ministry explains the mechanism for monitoring absences
Public schools in Saudi Arabia concluded their end-of-term written exams for the first semester on Thursday, amidst intensive preparations and strict ministerial directives aimed at ensuring accurate monitoring and the swift release of results. The Ministry of Education instructed school administrations in all regions and governorates to complete the auditing and review processes through the "Noor" electronic system, in order to make results available to students and parents before the end of the school day.
Digital transformation and speed of achieving results
This rapid achievement in recording grades and announcing results is a result of the Ministry of Education's ongoing efforts to develop the digital infrastructure of the education system. Whereas correction and recording processes used to take days or weeks in past decades, the central "Noor" system has become a cornerstone ensuring transparency and speed, reflecting the success of the Ministry's plans, aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, to automate government services and facilitate access to accurate information for beneficiaries.
Mechanism for dealing with dropouts and absences
In a significant organizational development, the Ministry of Education has resolved the debate surrounding the status of students who have dropped out of school this semester. Official instructions clarify that these students will be marked as "absent" in the electronic system instead of being "dismissed." This measure carries important educational and administrative implications, as it aims to preserve students' academic records and give them the opportunity to return to their studies without the administrative complications that could result from permanent dismissal.
Alternative testing procedures and grade improvement
Regarding students who were unable to attend the final exams, the ministry has put in place precise regulations to ensure fairness:
- Excused absence: The student is given an alternative exam opportunity worth 40 marks, while retaining all coursework marks (60 marks).
- Absence without excuse: Attendance and punctuality marks are deducted, and the student is tested out of 60 marks (including short and final tests), while retaining only 40 marks for the rest of the assessment tools.
The ministry also blocked any individual efforts related to retaking exams for the purpose of improving grades, categorically confirming that no student who has already taken the end-of-term exam will be retaken, regardless of the reasons, in order to reinforce the principle of equal opportunities for all students.
Social and educational impact
The completion of exams and the announcement of results is a significant event at the local level, as millions of Saudi families eagerly await their children's academic achievements. The prompt release of results allows families to better plan their mid-term break and provides students with immediate peace of mind in preparation for the next semester. These measures underscore the Ministry's commitment to ensuring the stability of the educational process and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes through accurate and fair assessment systems.
