The new vehicle inspection station in Dammam, located in the Al-Qadisiyah district, has been put into operation

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing the infrastructure for vehicle services in the Eastern Province, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), represented by the Vehicle Safety Center, announced the commencement of operations at a new periodic technical inspection site in Dammam, specifically in the Al-Qadisiyah district. This project will serve as a vital complement to the main station, directly contributing to reducing waiting times and expanding the geographical coverage of this mandatory service.
Context of development and improving quality of life
The inauguration of the Al-Qadisiyah district station is part of a comprehensive national plan led by relevant authorities to enhance the efficiency of the vehicle inspection system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Historically, periodic inspection stations in major cities, including Dammam, have suffered from high operational pressure, leading in the past to vehicle congestion and long waiting times. In response to the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 Quality of Life Program and the facilitation of government services, efforts have been made to expand by opening new centers and encouraging investment in this sector to ensure smooth operations and provide multiple options for beneficiaries.
Strategic location and online booking system
The new center boasts a strategic location in the Al-Qadisiyah district, making it easily accessible to residents of neighboring areas and alleviating pressure on the main station serving central and western Dammam. To prevent a recurrence of the chaotic scenes witnessed at the station, the new facility operates on a mandatory online appointment booking system. The operator has urged all users to book appointments in advance through the dedicated platform, ensuring drivers can complete their inspections quickly and without waiting in long queues – a digital transformation that has contributed to a more organized and efficient flow of vehicles.
Expected impact on traffic safety
The importance of this station extends beyond simply reducing traffic congestion; it also enhances road safety standards. Streamlining and simplifying the periodic vehicle inspection process encourages drivers to adhere to their annual inspection schedules, leading to more accurate technical monitoring of vehicles and the removal of unroadworthy ones. Ultimately, this measure contributes to protecting lives and public and private property, and reduces accidents caused by sudden mechanical failures—a key objective of the Ministry of Interior and its partners in their efforts to lower traffic fatality rates.
Digital integration and smart services
To keep pace with this geographical expansion, the authority has enhanced its technological infrastructure by providing multiple digital options for users, including smartphone applications available on various app stores, in addition to a unified call center for technical support. The Al-Qadisiyah station project represents a model of integration between urban planning and safety requirements, as it will redistribute traffic associated with service centers in a more balanced and efficient manner within the Dammam metropolitan area.
