The Foreign Minister discusses the latest developments in Davos with his Dutch counterpart

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's active diplomatic efforts on the international stage, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with David van Welch, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This important meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2026 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which brings together a select group of world leaders and decision-makers.
These discussions are of particular importance given their timing and location; the Davos Forum is a pivotal global platform for discussing the economic and political challenges facing the international community. The meeting underscores the Kingdom's leading role and influential position in shaping the international landscape, and its ongoing commitment to building bridges with key players in the European Union, including the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with which the Kingdom shares historical ties and common interests.
During the meeting, a comprehensive review of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries was conducted. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen and develop these relations across various fields, particularly in the economic, investment, and energy sectors, in order to serve the aspirations of both nations and their peoples. The importance of continued joint coordination on issues of mutual interest was also emphasized, with the aim of enhancing existing cooperation and expanding it to broader horizons.
On the political front, the two sides devoted considerable time to discussing the most pressing regional and international issues. The ministers addressed efforts to strengthen international peace and security, and discussed the challenges facing the Middle East and the world, emphasizing the need for concerted international efforts to find sustainable solutions to existing crises, thereby ensuring stability and prosperity for the peoples of the region.
This high-level diplomatic meeting was attended by an official delegation, which included the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Swiss Confederation, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Dawood, the Director General of the Office of His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Waleed Al-Smaeel, in addition to the Advisor to His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Al-Yahya, which reflects the importance that the Kingdom attaches to these bilateral meetings and their role in strengthening the Saudi diplomatic work system.
