The Foreign Minister discusses relations with Guatemala and the latest developments in Syria

Today, the Saudi capital, Riyadh, witnessed intense diplomatic activity, as His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a number of international officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and to discuss the most prominent regional and international issues, within the framework of the Kingdom’s leading role in promoting international security and peace.
Strengthening the partnership with Central America
At the start of his meetings, His Royal Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs received His Excellency Carlos Ramiro Martínez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Guatemala and discussed ways to support and develop them across various fields. This visit comes within the framework of the Kingdom's strategy to expand its diplomatic and economic relations with Latin American and Central American countries, serving mutual interests and supporting the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in building diverse global strategic partnerships.
The two sides discussed opportunities for joint cooperation in investment and trade fields, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the importance of diplomatic coordination in international forums.
Saudi-American talks on Syria
In a related regional development, Prince Faisal bin Farhan received the United States Special Envoy to Syria, Mr. Tom Barrack. The meeting focused on the latest developments in Syria, as the Kingdom is deeply committed to ending the suffering of the Syrian people and reaching a comprehensive political solution that preserves Syria's unity and Arab identity.
The two sides discussed the international and UN efforts in this matter, as the Kingdom always emphasizes the need for concerted international efforts to support political solutions in accordance with relevant international resolutions, in order to ensure the return of stability to Syria and the region, and to prevent the return of terrorist organizations that threaten regional security.
Saudi Arabia's role in regional stability
These successive meetings in Riyadh reflect the pivotal role played by Saudi diplomacy, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, in addressing complex and sensitive issues. On the one hand, the Kingdom seeks to build bridges of economic and political cooperation with friendly nations such as Guatemala. On the other hand, it continues to uphold its responsibilities toward the issues of the Arab region, most notably the Syrian crisis, through ongoing coordination with influential international powers such as the United States to ensure security and stability in the Middle East.
