The Foreign Minister discusses strengthening the strategic partnership with Rubio

During his official visit to the United States, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held an important meeting in Washington, D.C., with his American counterpart, Marco Rubio. This meeting reaffirms the depth of diplomatic relations and the ongoing coordination between Riyadh and Washington on various issues of mutual interest.
Strengthening historical and strategic relations
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the deep-rooted historical relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, which span more than eight decades of alliance and partnership. The two ministers discussed ways to develop and enhance these relations in various political, economic, and security fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly countries and fulfills the aspirations of their peoples.
These talks are of particular importance in light of the existing strategic partnership, as the Kingdom is a pivotal partner for the United States in the Middle East region, especially in the areas of energy, counterterrorism, and economic cooperation, which is witnessing rapid growth under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Discussing the latest regional and international developments
Regional issues featured prominently in the discussions, with His Highness the Foreign Minister and his American counterpart discussing the latest developments in the Middle East. The two sides addressed efforts to de-escalate tensions and achieve security and stability in the region, and discussed current security challenges that require high-level coordination among key international players.
This meeting comes at a sensitive time for the region, which calls for intensifying political consultations to ensure that crises are contained and sustainable political solutions are found for existing conflicts, in order to ensure the protection of civilians and promote international peace and security.
High-level diplomatic presence
The meeting was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America, reflecting the high level of attention the Saudi leadership gives to relations with Washington. Also present was Mohammed Al-Yahya, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and both sides affirmed their commitment to continued communication to follow up on the outcomes of these discussions.
