King Salman Center distributes food aid to more than 10,000 people in Gaza

Urgent humanitarian aid in the heart of the suffering

As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its relief programs in the Gaza Strip, distributing 1,781 complete food baskets in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Strip. This aid targeted displaced Palestinian families affected by the current humanitarian crisis, benefiting 10,686 individuals, as part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The general context and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza

This support comes at a critical time for the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis as a result of the ongoing conflict. The situation has led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of residents and the destruction of infrastructure, creating severe shortages of basic food supplies, clean water, and healthcare. Khan Younis is among the hardest-hit areas, having received a large influx of displaced people from other regions, further straining already limited resources. This aid aims to address some of the urgent needs and provide food security for families who have lost their livelihoods and homes.

The importance of the Saudi role in supporting the Palestinian cause

Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has played a pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause on all political, economic, and humanitarian levels. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, established in 2015, is the Kingdom's primary humanitarian arm, implementing relief projects worldwide in accordance with international standards. This current public campaign is an extension of this unwavering commitment, reflecting the solidarity of the Kingdom's leadership and people with their Palestinian brothers and sisters. These efforts contribute to strengthening the resilience of the local population and alleviating the immense burden they face daily.

Local and regional impact of aid

Locally, these food baskets, containing essential items such as rice, flour, sugar, and oil, provide a vital source of nutrition that helps prevent malnutrition and related diseases, particularly among children, women, and the elderly. Regionally and internationally, these initiatives underscore the Kingdom's leading role in global humanitarian work and highlight its commitment to international conventions and humanitarian values. They also represent a message of hope and solidarity, contributing to mobilizing international support for increased aid to the Gaza Strip to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
