The Saudi Foreign Minister receives a message from Lavrov to strengthen relations

As part of ongoing high-level diplomatic coordination between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Federation, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a written message from his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The message addressed ways to support and strengthen the robust bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and mechanisms for developing these relations across various fields to serve their mutual interests.

The message was received by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Engineer Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji, during his meeting today at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom, Sergey Kozlov. The meeting included a comprehensive review of existing cooperation between Riyadh and Moscow, as well as discussions on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The depth of historical relations and growing partnership

This message comes in the context of a remarkable development in Saudi-Russian relations, which are based on a long historical legacy, as Russia (formerly the Soviet Union) was the first country to recognize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1926. Recent years have witnessed qualitative leaps in the course of these relations, driven by reciprocal visits by the leaders of the two countries, which has contributed to consolidating a strategic partnership that transcends traditional frameworks.

Joint coordination on energy and policy issues

Saudi-Russian coordination is gaining significant importance both regionally and internationally, particularly in light of current geopolitical challenges. Cooperation between the two countries is most evident in the energy sector, where the Kingdom and Russia lead the OPEC+ alliance, which plays a pivotal role in maintaining the stability and balance of global oil markets, positively impacting the global economy.

On the political front, Riyadh and Moscow share common views on several thorny issues in the Middle East, including the need to find political solutions to the crises in Syria and Yemen, combat terrorism, and ensure regional security and stability. These exchanges between the two countries' foreign ministers demonstrate the continuation of diplomatic consultations aimed at unifying positions on critical issues.

Future prospects and economic cooperation

Beyond the political dimension, the Kingdom and Russia seek to expand economic and investment cooperation, in line with the objectives of "Saudi Vision 2030." Promising areas of cooperation include technology, infrastructure, agriculture, and space, underscoring the desire of both sides to build sustainable and diversified relations that benefit the people of both countries.
