The Geological Survey launches its digital portal to support mining and research

The CEO of the Saudi Geological Survey, Engineer Abdullah bin Mufter Al-Shamrani, launched the new official website of the Survey and its upgraded digital portal, in a step aimed at bringing about a qualitative shift in the mechanisms for making geological data available digitally to researchers and investors, enhancing the principles of transparency, and supporting scientific studies and the sustainability of natural resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Keeping pace with digital transformation and Vision 2030
The launch of the new electronic platform comes as part of the Authority's strategy to keep pace with the National Digital Transformation Program and in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which places great importance on the mining sector as the third pillar of Saudi industry. Through this portal, the Authority is working to automate geological information and facilitate access to it for beneficiaries, thus contributing to accelerating work and reducing the effort and time required to obtain accurate data, which is the cornerstone of any mining or research project.
Supporting the scientific research and investment system
The Authority's official spokesperson, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, explained that the new website is not merely a media platform, but also includes a comprehensive overview of the Authority's activities, tasks, and specialized technical work. He noted that the platform was specifically designed to support scientific research and development in the field of geology, serving as a reliable resource for specialists and students in earth sciences, thus enhancing the quality of academic and research outputs at universities and scientific centers.
Enhancing transparency and attracting investments
This step is of great economic importance, as the portal allows visitors and investors direct access to the latest studies and statistical data related to natural resources and mineral wealth in the Arabian Shield and its sedimentary cover. The availability of this data with a high degree of transparency contributes to enhancing the confidence of local and international investors, thus supporting the Kingdom's efforts to attract capital to the promising mining sector.
Environmental and social awareness
In addition to its economic and scientific dimensions, the project contributes to raising environmental awareness and enhancing interaction with local communities by providing accurate scientific content about natural resources in a simplified and accessible manner. Through this digital transformation, the Authority seeks to solidify the principle of transparency, committing to regularly updating data to build effective partnerships with visitors and researchers, and ensuring the sustainability of resources for future generations.
